Tarim-2

Proposed TD: 3800 m

Tarim-2 is an appraisal well to the 1990 Conoco discovery at Tarim-1. The well would have three objectives:

  • Establish the fluid content and productivity of the Alene reservoir
  • Assess the reservoir quality of the Toro
  • Explore the deeper potential of the P’Nyang and Iagifu/LJ5 reservoirs not penetrated in Tarim-1

The Tarim trap is the anticlinal hanging wall of a northeast-verging backthrust. It was originally recognized on surface geology. Pre-drill seismic control was limited to short flank lines to the east and west, which appeared to confirm plunge in both directions along strike. The structural configuration at the target horizons was confirmed when line DPM-91-02 was acquired subsequent to drilling.

Volumetric estimates of potential resources for both oil and wet gas cases for the Alene, and wet gas for the deeper (P’nyang and LJ5) reservoirs are shown in the table below.

Alene – Oil Case P90 Mean P10
Area of Closure (km2) 10 55 120
Average Gross Pay (m) 10 15 20
Recoverable Oil (MMSTB) 6 41 90
Alene – Wet Gas Case P90 Mean P10
Area of Closure (km2) 10 55 120
Average Gross Pay (m) 10 15 20
Wet Gas Initially In Place (BCF) 50 322 708
